World Vision,

Global charity design system

Design systems + Documentation

Design and document a comprehensive design system for global charity World Vision, creating a single source of truth that aligns digital products with the organisation’s strategic vision.

Design governance, simplified

As part of a strategic shift, WVC needed a refreshed design system to bring unity and consistency across its digital products. Years of fragmented onboarding and inconsistent design had made scalability and governance increasingly difficult. I led the development of a new, streamlined system that was carefully crafted and clearly documented to support designers, developers, and product owners across both internal and external teams.

A clear, restructured approach

I played a key role in defining Lumen’s documentation strategy, helping determine how the design system should be structured, presented, and navigated. This included specifying the type and depth of information required, as well as mapping user journeys for referencing and future recommendations. The documentation was organised into four core sections:

  1. Getting Started —
Onboarding guidance for new team members.
  2. Foundations
— The core principles and standards behind WVC’s digital services.
  3. Components, Patterns, and Templates — An atomic UI library covering everything from foundational elements to real-world templates.

  4. Resources
— Governance guidelines, downloadable assets, and support materials.
